DOMESTIC DUCKS

Keeping ducks has become one of the most popular domestic hobbies in the past few years, stirring a revival of interest in the breeds, following many years of indifference.
People keep them for many different reasons, increasingly they are to contribute to the family menu, their eggs are delightfully rich and their meat is delicious.
However the results from many of the birds that one can find here in the United Kingdom these days can be very disappointing, because we have lost most of the breeders who understood about selection for good table carcass or improving the egg numbers each year. Its imperative each breeder plays their part to protect the genetic qualities in the stocks we have left.

The links to each breed here will take you to some more information about each breed and what their qualities should be.

Appleyard -large & miniature Magpie
Aylesbury Muscovy
Blue Swedish Orpington
Call Pekin
Campbell Rouen
Cayuga Rouen Clair
East Indian Saxony
Indian Runner Welsh Harlequin

We also have a great deal of information about what you need to do to look after your ducks, planning the garden, managing the water supply, feeding, breeding and simply just enjoying these most entertaining of all pets. Keeping ducks is easy, but it does need some careful planning and the right facilities, otherwise you can turn your garden to a quagmire and make your ducks very poorly.
